In total, the Second Spanish Civil War ended the lives of 3 680 000 people, and reduced the population in formerly Spanish lands from 38 million down to 35 million.
Events[edit | edit source]
Background[edit | edit source]
Germany had previously reluctantly accepted Spain's departure from World War III, however now that he had had some time to recover, Germany was ready to enact revenge on the Spaniards for having attempted to escape his wrath. As such, he launched a revolution in Spain, with the objective of extermination. This was intended to be done through Cinatit's newly engineered ideology annihilism. After having been facing a multitude of problems for a long time, the primary ones being an aging population, desertification, rampant depression, economical recession and military oppression, the Spanish people had grown increasingly frustruated with their government. The annihilist Spaniards of Despair, however, did not seek to solve these problems but escape them by escaping life alltogether.

Early Engagements[edit | edit source]
Rebellion[edit | edit source]
In the early days of the outbreak of the civil war, the Spaniards of Despair marched from the northern coast, southwards, as was laid out in the Divisor Protocols. Along with the main revolt conducted in Léon, the Spaniards of Despair also had a second uprising conducted in the south, however this was quickly put down by government forces, as heavy prioritization was put on wiping it out first in order to clear out the south. This was so, since the anarchist Spanish Assembly had risen up in Barcelona and rallied supporters all the way down in Valencia and Murcia. To the Spanish government, this made saving anything north of Madrid a lost cause, and so the south was prioritized.
Seperatists[edit | edit source]
Shortly after Germany caught Poland for bluffing, regarding his threat of war declaration unless German support would cease, Catalonia made a deal with the Spanish government where he would join in return for getting to annex all of his liberated lands. This was yet another desperate attempt of Spain to take the easy way out by avoiding to deal with the problems himself. Nevertheless, Andorra would also join forces with the Catalonians and the Basque would intervene too, however Basque would also fight the Spanish government. After seeing the Catalonian, Andorran and Basque offenses become major successess, Andalusia would get bolstered to rebel against Spain in persuit of independence.
Consolidation[edit | edit source]
Over the course of the summer of 2090, the Spaniards of Despair would successfully take control over Galicia and would together with Basque capture the region of Navarra after having successfully breached the Ebro River. In spite of these two successess however, the annihilists were unable to march on Madrid and their southern forces got surrounded and defeated by government forces, with only a few of them managing to escape and connect up with the bulk of their forces in the north. Meanwhile, the Spanish Assembly would make significant advancements westwards, pushing to the outskirts of Madrid and meeting up with Andalusia at the city of Granada. The Spanish Assembly would however be forced to relocate their capital to Valencia, as Catalonian and Andorran forces, with aid from Occitania, would capture Barcelona and breach the Ebro from the north.
Anglosphere Intervention[edit | edit source]

On the 10th of September, 2090, Portugal managed to convince the United Rationales of America to greenlight Anglosphere intervention in the civil war in order to stp the German-backed rebels from taking over. Portugese forces entered into Galicia but were forced to halt their offensive as the Spaniards of Despair invaded from the east. American forces previously fighting in Italy were now sent to invade the Balearic Islands and use it as a launching ground for an amphibious invasion of Murcia, which was very successfull. During these campaigns, Andalusia and the Spanish Assembly continued slowly advancing in from the south while the Spaniards of Despair pushed Basque back to the Pyrenees and laid Madrid under siege.
Gateway Protocols[edit | edit source]
By 2091 the Spanish State had become desparate to get out of his predicament. Because of this, he chose to look through the Gateway Protocols, one of the classified documents given to him by France, which supposedly held levarage against the Germans. Looking through these documents, he accidentally summoned the demon Leviathan, who was quick to offer him an easy way out. On the 4th of May 2091, the Spanish State reluctantly accepted this offer, and Leviathan would be elected his ruler, creating the esoteric fascist demonocracy Infernal Iberia. Immediately after this, the Anglosphere issued a war declaration on him.
Counter-Offensives[edit | edit source]
Reorganization[edit | edit source]
As Leviathan formed Infernal Iberia, he immediately revamped the country's military doctrines, strategies, weaponry, logistics and deployment, etc, and replaced a lot of the generals. He also put his armies in defensive positions on most fronts and redoployed all of the mechanized units, tanks, artillery and drones to the north. Infernal Iberia then launched a counter-offensive against the Spaniards of Despair, aiming to kick them out of the war to minimize the number of fronts needed to fight on. This campaign became the most bloody one of the war by far, featuring numerous war crimes and autrocities from both sides.
Northern Campaign[edit | edit source]

He began with sending out one spearhead from Madrid and one from Plasencia, which met up at as they captured the city of Salamanca, subsequently encircling a third of the army of the Spaniards of Despair and killing them all, taking no POWs. The Spaniards of Despair would quickly send reinforcements from other fronts, enabling Portugal and later also Basque to resume their respecitve offensives. Infernal Iberia then continued his new found initiative and pushed to the Douro River, breaching it in the west while sending out one army corps east. This corps captured the city of Aranda de Duero in order to ruin the supply routes for a potential counter-offensive. The city was burned to the ground, leaving no survivors. After this, the Spaniards of Despair, despite losing on almost every front, made a desparate attempt to march on Madrid once more. This attempt failed as they only managed to ecapture the city of Guadalajara, which they burned and genocided as vengance.
Fall of the Annihilists[edit | edit source]
In the unusually humid winter of 2091 the Spaniards of Despair tried to make a last stand at their capital of Léon, however their forces arrived too late and the battle was over before it even began. Infernal Iberia and Portugal reached the northern coast not long after and after having encirled a few divisions in Galicia, the Portugese would occuy the region. Despite Portugal officially being at war with Infernal Iberia, only minor border clashes would take place over the course of the war, presumably because Portugal feared meeting a similar fate as the Spaniards of Despair, had he tried. After the fall of Léon the last remaining forces of the annihilists retreated the the city of Burgos, which had briefly been the capital of Francoist Spain during the first Spanish Civil War. With the state of their army however, they got brutally defeated by Infernal Iberia, who burned the city, killing up to 60 % of its inhabitants. After this, the Spaniards of Despair surrendered and Basque declared peace.
Eastern Offensive[edit | edit source]
After two months of preparations, Infernal Iberia now turned his armies east, aiming to capitulate the Spanish Assembly and become the sole remaining Spanish government. This offensive, beginning on the 13th of March, 2092, went really well, with hefty advances both in the north and in the south. Multiple anarchist divisions got encircled in the small city of Calatayud and a spearhead reached Albacete which cut off the anarchist forces in the south who therefore surrendered. At the samte time as this was happening, Infernal Iberia also began an offensive against Andalusia, pulling off a small encirclement in Huelva and making it over the Guadalquivir River, quickly capturing the cities of Jaén, Linares and parts of Córdoba. This caused Andalusia to join the Anglosphere for protection. As the Spanish Assembly's capital Valencia came under threat from Infernal Iberia, from both the north and the south, the Spanish Assembly chose to take the easy way out and surrender, on the second of June, 2092.
Anglo-Spanish War[edit | edit source]
Months of Silence[edit | edit source]

Following the surrender of the Spanish Assembly, Catalonia would declare peace. Some scholars argue that the second Spanish Civil War ended here and that the rest was just a part of the larger Anglo-German War, which in turn could be argued to just be a part of World War III, as the war by this point was just a fight between the demonic Spanish government and the Anglosphere, who were very much opposed to such demonocratic governments. Infernal Iberia continued with a small offensive on the eastern coast, capturing the small city of Alicante meanwhile Portugal began a small offensive into Infernal Iberia, capturing the cities of Cáceres and Plasencia.
Internal Strife[edit | edit source]
As the Autumn approached, Portugal tried to rally the Spanish people to reject the rule of Leviathan, as they had by now realized how huge of a mistake they had made allowing him to come to power. Spain, however, not willing to confront and deal with the consequences of his actions, could not bring himself to attempt a rebellion. Instead, he chose to take the easy way out: Destroying own government, killing all of the politicians involved and effectively causing a collapse of the state, ending both him and Leviathan.
Treaty of Lisbon[edit | edit source]
The Anglosphere would attempt to stabilize any resemblance of political administration in the collapsed state, leading to the formation of the Republic of Léon and the Kingdom of Castile. The Anglosphere-aligned Andalusia would gain independence, Portugal would annex Galicia and the Canary Islands and the United Rationales of America would create an alt-right republic and de facto puppet named the Republic of Tyrrhenia, who would get Valencia, the Balearic Islands, Sardinia and Sicilly in order to eleviate American garrisons in the region.
